The Delos project stems from a simple goal: putting together a ground-level set of "system" building blocks (KPM), upon which it becomes possible to build universal business modules (UBM). These latter modules are designed to fulfill the e-delos vision.

A module here is said to be "universal" when it does not depend on a specific business or application.

Modules in the e-delos suite are based on a philosophy that radically differs from the one driving ERP.

They take maximum advantage of existing applications, and take responsibility for federating and structuring knowledge.

e-delos centralizes information (organizations, places, people, media, etc.)

e-delos shares knowledge (intranet-based architecture)

e-delos connects specific applications, using XML for seamless data exchange
